Project description:

Atlántico Punta del Este is a unique project for one of the most important and popular tourist destinations in the region, Punta del Este. The mixed-use development comprises a shopping mall and four towers, which include residential apartments, offices and hotel. The project targets a year-round population, who is looking to live, work, shop and create memorable experiences in Punta del Este and Maldonado. Atlántico aims to create a new pole in the city, combining apartments, restaurants, services, fitness center, kids club, cinema, fashion, culture and events. The Project has a total GFA of 110.000m2.

The Project will be executed in stages, being Phase 1 the construction of a shopping mall + 1 apartment tower + 1 office tower, with a total GFA of 70.000m2 to be built. The shopping mall is designed in 3 levels and has 3 levels of underground parking; the residential tower comprises 176 units in 23 levels; and the office tower has a total GFA of 9.000m2 

Key stakeholders: Altius Group Uruguay, Peninsula Investments Group, Gomez Platero Arquitectos, Luis E. Lecueder, Norte Construcciones, Criba Uruguay S.A. and over 100 tenants of the mall´s retail units. 

Main responsibilities:
Leading the project team on site, liaising with key stakeholders, ensuring timely procurement of all packages under the Developer’s scope of works, finalizing all Developers’ decisions, reporting to higher management, and coordinating with Developer’s internal departments (Interior Design, Project Quality Assurance, Facility Management, etc).

Major achievements:
Given the procurement strategy of the project, which is divided in several main contracts and further more smaller contracts and procurement items under the Developer´s scope or works, the biggest challenge of the project is to coordinate all parties ensuring a smooth work flow, avoiding delays and maximizing the progress on site. The construction of Phase 1 is Split between three Main Contractors, further more Subcontractos (of which the majority are under the Developer´s scope of works) and over a hundred fit-out Contractors which will execute the works on the mall´s retail units.

Project status: Under construction. Construction completion expected December 2023.
